Phoning in from the Windy City Saturday morning was Jason Seiden, a consultant, entrepreneur, and award-winning author who will offer the opening presentation at the 2011 Young Professionals Summit, happening Thursday, March 3, at the Qwest Center.
Jason weighed in on the idea of failure in the workplace, and how today’s young professionals are finding their callings and their passions.
We also chatted about fast food toys and childhood obesity, inspired by our Omaha.net story of the week: “Toys or No Toys in Fast-Food Meals?” by Vicky DeCoster.
For our interview with Jason, a discussion on global warming, Mike’s run for office, and more, download the February 12 show.
And be sure to join us Thursday night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Nomad Lounge for the YP Summit Pre-Party. Mike, Bryan, and I will serve you drinks as part of the festivities. Copies of Jason’s books and Nerdy Thirty by yours truly will also be for sale tomorrow night. Arrive thirsty, my friends!

Download Now: Workplace Leadership, Midtown Crossing
We welcomed Molly Skold from Midtown Crossing on Saturday to discuss retail, entertainment, and residential options at this relatively new (and very urban) development at 32nd and Farnam Streets. With all the buzz
surrounding Midtown Crossing, we were surprised to learn that the retail development will only celebrate its first birthday in May.
It certainly has been a busy (nearly) twelve months for Midtown Crossing, and is only expected to get busier. Although Molly was tight-lipped about future tenants, she did say that three new Midtown Crossing retailers will be announced in the coming months. Stay tuned.
Our Omaha.net story of the week was “When Good Leaders Go Bad” by Kathleen Nicolini. Oftentimes “bad” workplaces are the result of poor communication and a general disconnect between the goals of the manager and the goals of the employee. What have been your experiences on the job? Do today’s young professionals expect more from managers than previous generations?
For all this and more, point your mouse this way to download Saturday’s show.
On Deck for Saturday: Midtown Crossing
Join us this Saturday when we welcome Molly Skold of Midtown Crossing in The Weekly Grind studio. Molly will give us an overview of the retail, entertainment, dining, and residential options available within this very up-and-coming development at 32nd and Farnam Streets.
We’ll also chat about a recent Omaha.net article, and will undoubtedly offer up our two cents (maybe even more) about the effort to recall Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle.
It’s what you do on Saturday: The Weekly Grind! Join us at 10 a.m. on KOIL 1180 AM.
Download a little @badbanana
What fun! Bryan and I could not stop laughing Saturday morning from the jokes, antics, and unpredictable commentary by our special co-host Tim Siedell, known to most Twitter followers as @badbanana. The list of topics we tackled was lengthy and funny, and we were thrilled to have Tim on the show for the entire hour.
Rest assured, Tim has been extended an invitation to return to the Weekly Grind mic whenever he wishes. (We hope it’s sooner rather than later.)
If you missed Saturday’s show, download it now. And be sure to grab a copy of Tim’s new book, Marching Bands Are Just Homeless Orchestras. It’s hilarious and makes a great gift.
Among other topics and local news events, we touched on this week’s Omaha.net story, “City Chicks Have More Fun!” by Christy Pooschke.
Until next time, have a good week!
